When you think of Vermont breweries, the first thing that comes to mind is either Magic Hat or Long Trail – right? At least, that is all I was privy to until taking this trip last week. If you read our post on Farm House Tap & Grill you would know that there is a new generation of brewery popping up in Vermont. Since I have been on the run the past two weeks for my other outlet, Jersey Streets, I have not had the time to crank out much fresh content. Luckily for me, we just took a nice three day trip to the Lake Champlain region of New York. Although we didn’t come across Champ, we did take a short ferry ride over the massive body of water to experience some local beer culture in Burlington, Vermont. Burlington’s craft beer claim to fame is Magic Hat Brewery, but we didn’t go to visit the known; we were there for the unknown. Array

Other than our trip to Carton Brewing, I can honestly say I have never been to the Sandy Hook area of the Jersey Shore. I feel like I have been missing out. Sandy Hook and the Highlands share an awesome culture with lots of local historical attractions and fine cuisine. Once a haven for bootleggers during Prohibition, the region is now littered with an array of bar choices from swank seafood restaurants to your good old local watering hole. There is one place, however, that stands out from the others – and that place is Twin Light Tap House. Opened in May of 2010, owner Mark Danziesen has been introducing beer drinkers of the area to the craft beer industry, offering draft and bottle selections from America’s finest breweries. BIRRA DEL BORGO MY ANTONIA


When our website first started up we did a little piece on a collaboration beer called My Antonia, and I feel it is time to revisit this magnificent lager. The beer was originally brewed outside of Rome (in October of 2008) by Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head and Leo DeVencenzo of Birra Del Borgo.
