I first found out about Firefly Hollow Brewing from my friend, Jeremy White. Jeremy has mad a few short films for them which we just love, and after watching them a few times over, it just left us yearning to take a trip out to Connecticut, but we just needed a little more motivation to take the two hour drive from Jersey. That motivation came about a week ago when I received word that our designer here at IDGB, Sara Guyre, had won their design contest for an up coming beer they plan to can called, Cone Flakes. Without hesitation, I jumped out of bed, and rendezvoused with Jared and Sara so we could take a nice Sunday trip out to Firefly Hollow.
I love how this brewery is just tucked away at the back end of this industrial complex.
The tasting room is very open for a small place.
The days draft list.
The brewery might be small, but they get the job done, and have quite the local following.
We came all this way for the beer, so we kicked things off with a pint of Lizards Breath IPA, and their White Brick Saison.
Sara was as equally excited to check out the other entries to the can design contest. There was a lot of great art, so the competition was tough.
Sara’s entry. I watched hand paint this over a few weeks, and was blown away when she finished it up.
Having sampled some of the beer, it was decided that we get a flight, and try everything on the menu.
I rounded things off with Luciferin Double IPA. They just released it a day before they got there and the bottles were flying out of the tasting room. We managed to get a few bottles to bring back, so stay tuned on another article.
Firefly Hollow is awesome! It’s really great to see a small brewery like this, making waves and turning out some amazing beers for the drinkers of Connecticut. I would like to thank Jeremy White for telling me about Firefly, and the tasting room staff for letting me run about with the camera. Cheers to Dana and the staff for all their success thus far, we look forward to more Firefly Hollow beers in the future.
