The Hudson Valley has a lot to offer craft beer wise. Whether you are in the lower or upper region, you can rest assure that a tasty beer can be found. Last week we paid a long over due visit to our friends right across the Jersey border at Rushing Duck. Located in Chester, New York, Rushing Duck is turning out hand crafted brews in a region that is otherwise known for its wineries. We first met the gang a few years back while they were pouring at TAP-NY. In just two years, they have made quite a name for themselves locally, and have recently started sharing their beers with the enthusiasts in NYC.
Brewing on a 7 barrel system, they are turning quite a lot of beer for a small operation.

Nikki Cavanaugh pours up up some Baby Elephant, a light bodied, sessionable version of the War Elephant IPA.

You can find a nice variety of beers on tap in their tasting room. Whether you are looking for a Rauch Bier or a dank IPA, there is something for every palate at Rushing Duck.
You can get growlers and bottles to go, as well as some local BBQ sauce that is made with their Bean Head Porter.
It’s always nice to take in the local art at breweries. Rushing has a few items throughout the tasting room.
If you are in Northern NJ or looking to escape the concrete jungle of NYC, Rushing Duck is just stones throw away. Their beers are fantastic, and it is a great local business to get behind. A big thanks to Dan and Nikki for having us out. We look forward to many pints of their beer in the future.
