I’ve been on this “fresh hopping†kick lately. Beers made with fresh hops versus dried just seem to be smoother to me. It’s a characteristic that I think especially works well with IPA’s. You still get all of the flavor and most of the bitterness that comes with this style of beer, but the more I drink them the more I’m discovering that there is less “bite†to the beer. and that they’re more drinkable. GREAT DIVIDE FRESH HOP ALE
I’d never tried a “fresh hopped†beer before Great Divide Brewing‘s Fresh Hop Pale Ale. I’m a big fan of using the freshest, highest quality ingredients whenever possible so I wanted to try it out. This is definitely an exceptional pale ale. The color was an awesome orange amber. It smelled great, something which I think fresh hopping might have a decent effect on. It’s definitely hop forward like your typical APA, but it finished nice. I have heard so much about this place from my friends in the area – largely due to their unique beer and ambiance. Needless to say, I was eager to check it out.
