What do you get when you take classic arcade gaming and mix in some of the best American craft beer out there? You get a place that can only go by one name, Barcade. Barcade has made a name for themselves over the past few years, opening up a craft beer bar that was aimed in one direction. Good old arcade gaming and some of the best beer available. Barcade has had such great success with their project that they now have four locations including; Brooklyn, Jersey City, Philadelphia, and recently opened, Chelsea location in Manhattan. POOR HENRY’S
Off the beaten path of Myrtle Avenue in Montville, New Jersey lies a family restaurant that has been around for quite some time. Poor Henry’s was opened 39 years ago by Ken Garrity with two original locations. Presently, scaled down to one location, his son Jesse decided it was time to get into the craft beer game and that is exactly the direction they are headed now.
TORST
There are so many places pouring craft beer in the city that it is almost impossible to decide where you want to drink sometimes. Do you want to grab a pint? Do you want to just get a sandwich and a growler fill? Better yet, do you hit the busier bars in Manhattan, or do you go to the more quiet sections of Brooklyn or Queens to have a more low key day? With some of our favorite bars residing in Manhattan it can be difficult to bring ourselves to go a little further to the other boroughs of the city, but that was not the case this past Sunday. We have been meaning to check out Tørst since they opened last March. If you have been living under a rock, Tørst is one of the most eclectic tap rooms in the city, offering the awesome and weird from around the world and the biggest selection of Evil Twin beers I have ever seen. THE ARLINGTON
I have been going to Long Beach Island for about ten years now, and while I have been only able to drink legally for seven of those years I always found it difficult to find a bar that suits my need for craft beer and good food. There are plenty of places on the island pouring some craft beer (and there is a lot of amazing food to boot) but there was never a place that had both. That is no longer the case however. A recent trip to LBI brought us to one of the newest tap rooms in the Garden State – The Arlington, opened by brothers Paul and Brian Sabrese. The brothers are no strangers to the restaurant world, both having worked at places on and off LBI for many years, so when an existing establishment didn’t feel like re-opening after Sandy, the brothers jumped at the opportunity and opened their dream bar. OBLIVION TAP ROOM
What is the first thing that you think of when you hear Orlando Florida? You might think about Disney Land, Universal Studios or that it is hot as hell most year there but do you ever think about craft beer? I don’t know about you but when I travel around the country the number one thing on my radar, no matter where I go, is craft beer. No to far away from the highly flooded tourist section from Orlando is a strip of highway called East Colonial Boulevard that is home to numerous eateries and bars but there is one bar that stands out from them all and that is Oblivion Tap Toom.
