Feeling adventurous (and a little thirsty), a few of us set out for nearby Verona the other day in search of something new. What good fortune we had to wind up at the Verona Inn for a few cold brews – not that we didn’t mean to go there, so much as it’s always a pleasant surprise when nothing goes wrong along the way. While the tavern has been a part of the community in spirit for decades, it has existed in this location for only a few years now. How we haven’t stopped in already is beyond us – this bar has a satisfying mix of class and comfort. When we arrived, a tour was arranged so that we could see the rear outside dining area, along with the kitchen, keg room, and storage. The spacious and organized workspace maintained by the staff is truly the stuff of food service envy. Continue reading “THE VERONA INN”
THE TWISTED ELM
A few months back I was searching for some video editing inspiration and came across a fantastic film of a little restaurant called The Twisted Elm Tavern. At first I thought I was watching a video from a place far away until I heard a very familiar name and the face to go with it. I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was Chef Albert Scazafave from the long forgotten South City Grill restaurant group, I then knew that this place was local for me and I had to go. Not having to deal with the wanna be martini drinkers and craziness of of an upscale restaurant, Chef Al has helped developed The Twisted Elm into a very comfortable tavern with a great selection of beer and an awesome gastropub menu to go with it. STATION TAP ROOM
Despite having an exuberant amount of chili at Victory the I Drink Good Beer posse was still hungry and I had this great thought stuck in my head thanks to one of the judges I was on the panel with. He spoke of this quaint little spot across from the Downingtown train station that had amazingly fresh food and a stellar beer list that is constantly rotating. To me that sounding like a wonderful way to end our day with a nice meal, good brew and some fresh content for you. Station Taproom opened in 2010 by owner Sean McGettigan with an idea to serve spectacularly fresh food and a nice list of craft beer. Continue reading “STATION TAP ROOM”
MUSSEL BAR BY ROBERT WIEDMAIER
Atlantic City is not really known as a city for craft beer enthusiasts. There are a couple spots to grab a craft beer in AC that have been around for some time, but given the recent renaissance of the craft beer scene in America, the bar and restaurant owners of Atlantic City are realizing the need for quality beers to pair with their outstanding menus. The newest casino in Atlantic City – Revel – houses one of the most interesting beer bars that I have visited. Continue reading “MUSSEL BAR BY ROBERT WIEDMAIER”
NICOLES TEN
After the last few years, I believed we had the local bar scene covered backwards and forwards. In this case, I’m happy to have been caught unawares. Nicole’s Ten in Randolph New Jersey is most certainly a worthy destination. Continue reading “NICOLES TEN”
