With the laws passing last year, it seems like there are a lot more breweries throwing their hats in the ring here in New Jersey, which is very inviting seeing as the state used to be a brewing mecca. One of the newest breweries to get online here in NJ is Angry Erik Brewing, tucked away in Southern Sussex county offering small batch beers for the craft enthusiasts of the area. We took a trip up to Angry Eriks on their opening day to say hello and obviously try some of their beer. Continue reading “ANGRY ERIK BREWING COMPANY”
CHILL TOWN CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL
As I sit here and open this article, I have realized that we have yet to write up a beer festival. So it gives me great pleasure to to promote of one of the newest festivals to hit the scene in New Jersey: Chill Town. Chill Town Craft Beer Festival is presented by the Visiting Homemaker Service of Hudson County, with all proceeds from the event benefiting the Child Abuse Program at Visiting Homemaker Service. We couldn’t pass up an opportunity to sponsor and attend the event for some coverage. Let’s see how the festival played out.
THE ARLINGTON
I have been going to Long Beach Island for about ten years now, and while I have been only able to drink legally for seven of those years I always found it difficult to find a bar that suits my need for craft beer and good food. There are plenty of places on the island pouring some craft beer (and there is a lot of amazing food to boot) but there was never a place that had both. That is no longer the case however. A recent trip to LBI brought us to one of the newest tap rooms in the Garden State – The Arlington, opened by brothers Paul and Brian Sabrese. The brothers are no strangers to the restaurant world, both having worked at places on and off LBI for many years, so when an existing establishment didn’t feel like re-opening after Sandy, the brothers jumped at the opportunity and opened their dream bar. RIVER HORSE BREWING COMPANY
We recently spent some time at the new River Horse facility, working on a film showcasing their digs and talking about the transition from the old building in Lambertville, New Jersey. If you remember our last trip to River Horse, you would know that they had been brewing in their Lambertville location since they opened their doors in 1996. Supplying the thirsty cities of New York and Philadelphia, and also satisfying the home market of NJ (and another in Connecticut), River Horse could only do so much at that facility. The decision was made to move on and get a bigger and more comfortable place that they can grow into over the next few years. Continue reading “RIVER HORSE BREWING COMPANY”
THE VERONA INN
Feeling adventurous (and a little thirsty), a few of us set out for nearby Verona the other day in search of something new. What good fortune we had to wind up at the Verona Inn for a few cold brews – not that we didn’t mean to go there, so much as it’s always a pleasant surprise when nothing goes wrong along the way. While the tavern has been a part of the community in spirit for decades, it has existed in this location for only a few years now. How we haven’t stopped in already is beyond us – this bar has a satisfying mix of class and comfort. When we arrived, a tour was arranged so that we could see the rear outside dining area, along with the kitchen, keg room, and storage. The spacious and organized workspace maintained by the staff is truly the stuff of food service envy. Continue reading “THE VERONA INN”
