It has been a while since we featured that can of Daisy Cutter, so we thought it would be proper to pay respect to another great beer from Half Acre Brewing (out of Chicago). This time we are featuring their hybrid beer Over Ale. Hybrid you say? That’s right – Over Ale lies somewhere between brown and ESB, and quite frankly is not for everyone. WEST SIXTH BREWING IPA
I am sure by now everyone is familiar with the cease and desist that took place between Kentucky based brewer West Sixth Brewing, and Vermont brewery Magic Hat. For those who don’t the long and short, the story is that Magic Hat claimed that the star on the above can of IPA infringed upon that of their product #9. Personally, I think it was messed up, and in an industry this small a brewery should be able to call another brewery and be reasonable about the situation, rather than bring in the lawyers. Since Magic Hat is no longer that small wholesome brewery in Vermont, and is now owned by some capitalist firm in Manhattan, litigation was the go-to solution. REVOLUTION BREWING COMPANY
There is a lot of great beer coming out of Chicago these days. We have highlighted Daisy Cutter from Half Acre, as well as Side Kick from Two Brothers. One Chi-town brewery in particular has really warmed a spot in my heart with three special beers. That brewery is Revolution, and as you can see from the picture above we got quite the variety of cans from them which left a lasting impression on the palate. CARTON BREWING SHIP WRECK PORTER
The lastest film we did for Carton Brewing is live. A year in the making I am happy to say that this project is a wrap and it is one hell of a beer. About a year ago the gang linked up with local Rum importer Brinley’s Gold Ship Wreck. Zach Brinley stopped by the brewery one day with his rum and Augie was really digging on the flavors of it and thought it would be neat to age some of their foundation porter in these rum soaked barrels. RIVER HORSE BREWING COMPANY
We recently spent some time at the new River Horse facility, working on a film showcasing their digs and talking about the transition from the old building in Lambertville, New Jersey. If you remember our last trip to River Horse, you would know that they had been brewing in their Lambertville location since they opened their doors in 1996. Â Supplying the thirsty cities of New York and Philadelphia, and also satisfying the home market of NJ (and another in Connecticut), River Horse could only do so much at that facility. The decision was made to move on and get a bigger and more comfortable place that they can grow into over the next few years. Continue reading “RIVER HORSE BREWING COMPANY”
