Feeling adventurous (and a little thirsty), a few of us set out for nearby Verona the other day in search of something new. What good fortune we had to wind up at the Verona Inn for a few cold brews – not that we didn’t mean to go there, so much as it’s always a pleasant surprise when nothing goes wrong along the way. While the tavern has been a part of the community in spirit for decades, it has existed in this location for only a few years now. How we haven’t stopped in already is beyond us – this bar has a satisfying mix of class and comfort. When we arrived, a tour was arranged so that we could see the rear outside dining area, along with the kitchen, keg room, and storage. The spacious and organized workspace maintained by the staff is truly the stuff of food service envy.
Starting with the bar area, Verona Inn has an abundance of space to handle a big crowd.
The keg room was something else – nicely kept with an awesome metal rack to save on storage.
Altogether, there are thirty taps at Verona, with everything from macro lagers to some of the best craft beer in the country.
Bill Crockett (Beer Manager) is a big fan of local beer; he has Carton, Kane, Flying Fish and NJ Beer Company all flowing through the lines.
You never know when and where you might find Carton’s Red Rye Returning. It was quickly evident that I would be having some.
There is always something on nitro at Verona Inn: this week’s feature is Belhaven’s Scottish Ale.
You can’t have a few beers without trying some of the food menu as well. Whether you are looking into an entree or simple bar food, they have got you covered here.
Check out the Mahi Mahi Bites.
A delectable burrito was in order.
A big thanks to Bill and TJ is in order for inviting us to check out the Verona Inn. We had a great time and look forward to more trips that way soon. This spot is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area (and even if you are not).
