I must say I am a pretty big Epic fan. Their beers are tasty and despite the Mormon constraints of Utah, the brewery has found a second home in the great state of Colorado, turning out some of the best beer in the country. Epic recently released their first canned offering and a brew they made upon arriving in the centennial state.
The beer is Escape To Colorado. An American style, India Pale Ale, generously hopped with the Mosaic varietal we have all come to love over the past year.
Running through the whole six pack, I had my ups and downs with the flavor of this beer. I really didn’t get any mosaic in the first few cans but as I sit here with my last can on a fresh palate, the beer is starting to show some of those fruity notes that the mosaic hop doles out.
Would I get another six pack? You bet your ass I will. Cheers and congratulations to Epic on getting into the new format. With over 500 breweries going into aluminum over the last year, cans are bigger than ever, and the scene will only continue to grow. I am very much looking forward to the cans of Hop Syndrome coming out later this month.
