Long Island craft beer made history yesterday. Thanks to Iron Heart Canning, Port Jefferson Brewing Company canned up a fresh batch of their flagship IPA, Party Boat. While Party Boat might seem like a low abv IPA, it is not. Coming in at 7.7% alcohol, Port Jeff’s flagship is both drinkable, delicious, and one of the best beers on Long Island. To see it go into cans is a great thing, and we are pumped to share this content with you.
Taking the trip up to TAP-NY the past few years has yielded me plenty of samples of this beer, so it was really exciting to see it finally go into cans and meet some moreĀ of the gang from Port Jeff. New head brewer, Matt Gundrum, was pretty excited for the day. Lets face it, the first beer to be canned by Iron Heart on the island is a big deal.
Party Boat was only a draft only option, so having one of the best IPA’s on Long Island in a can is a great thing for Port Jeff fans around New York.
There were a lot of cans to fill.
Altogether they packaged over 200 cases of Party Boat to release all over Long Island. The social networking photos throughout the day really engaged their fans so you can expect some fan fare over this beer if you are out by Port Jefferson this weekend.
Cheers to Matt and the Gang over at Port Jeff. This is a big step for Long Island and a big step for the brewery, and we hope to see more LI beers in cans over the next year. Thanks to Iron Heart Canning for having me out for the day and Long Ireland Beer Company for making it all happen. Until the next trip, cheers, I have some Party Boat to go drink.
