We really like Saisons here at I Drink Good Beer so when one of our favorite East Coast beer makers crafts a sessionable Saison for the spring, its a no brainer that we have to feature it. Victory introduced Swing in the late winter last year to make us forget about the dreary cold days of the North East and this year it is has made its return. Most breweries making session beers these days are trying to flood the IPA market and tend to forget the other styles out there that can be sessionable as well.
Instead of another IPA, Victory went the belgian way and made a Saison with rye, oats, wheat and a mix of American and German hop varieties. To give it that spicy Saison kick we are used to, they add peppercorn, a little orange peel and some lemon zest and ferment it on top a saison yeast. All together a nice ensemble of flavors to quench the thirst of the early spring.
We are excited to see swing back out on the shelves and highly recommend that you get out there and try some, whether it be grabbing a six pack or a fresh pint at your local bar. Victory has done a bang up job on this brew and is certainly a go to brew for the spring days ahead. Cheers to Bill and the gang, we look forward to seeing you all soon.
