How about something a little different: Do you like apple pie? Here’s how to enjoy that great flavor in an adult beverage that packs a healthy buzz. Apple pie “moonshine” is a perfect summer beverage that’s easy to make. A word of caution, it will be so smooth and irresistibly delicious that you will most likely consume a whole mason jar of it!
Mix all ingredients EXCEPT the Everclear in a large pot. Bring your brew to a boil for a minute, then kill the burner. Allow to rest until she steams no more. Add alcohol. Bottle and include the cinnamon sticks to induce a stronger flavor as the jars rest if you prefer. Store in a cool dark area.
RECIPE – Wicked Apple Pie Moonshine
1 gallon apple cider
1 gallon apple juice (100% juice)
2 cups white sugar
2 cups brown sugar (more if desired for stronger flavor)
8 cinnamon sticks
2 whole cloves
1/4 section of nutmeg
2 (or more) vanilla beans
1 liter of Everclear 190 proof alcohol
Sliced apples if you desire
At minimum 24 mason jars
-We have found that if your concoction tastes a bit too much like apple juice, add more brown sugar.
-Mind the cinnamon – too much and it will dominate the flavor palette. Anything over 8 sticks is flirting with danger.
