ALL ABOUT BEER
It’s not often I get to partake in beer magazine shenanigans. But when your friend is an editor at All About Beer and ask you to sample some brews, you can’t say no. Some neat beers were had, let’s check them out.
Our proctor and editor at All About Beer, John Holl.
Thankfully I wasn’t drinking alone. Departed Soles owner, Brian Kulbacki, joined us in the tasting.
Palate cleanser.
Drinking the beers blind really changes your perception of what is in the glass. I have never done anything like it and it was a great experience over all. Thanks to John Holl and All About Beer for inviting me along on this panel. To see the results, pick up the September issue of the magazine where ever your favorite beer mags are sold.

FIZZICS
I get offered a lot of things to review here on the blog and this is hands down one of the coolest products to review yet. I would like to introduce you all to the Fizzics Draft Beer System. The long and short is that it’s like having a Keurig for beer on your kitchen counter. It can fit everything from cans to growlers, giving you a solid pour of your beer, glass after glass. We did some extensive testing with it right away sampling everything from sour ipa’s to cider. Lets check it out.
The pours through the machine were way different than the free pour into the glass. Significant flavor difference. We also found that adding the foam to the top of every glass made for a better tasting beer. Those that know beer chemistry will understand that the thick foam with keep oxygen out.
We ran all sorts of things through it. Stouts, ipa, saison, cider. Hell we even tried seltzer.
All in all the Fizzics is pretty damn cool. While it might not be for every beer drinker out there. It’s definitely a great gift item for the beer drinkers in your life and will be the center point of your next beer gathering. Those of you looking to get your own, you can get them straight from the source here, over at Amazon or your nearest Brookstone. Thanks to Courtney over at Fizzics for setting us up with their gear, we look forward to playing with it a lot more this summer. Cheers!
