FLOUNDER BREWING COMPANY

Flounder Brewing 21
It is a great day to be a beer drinker in New Jersey. We have some solid beer makers spread out all over the state ranging from big to small with everyone turning out their own little projects and giving us drinkers something to brag about from the Garden State. One of the newer breweries is a little nano in somerset county by the name of Flounder Brewing Company. Started a little over a year ago, Jeremy Flounder has perfected a home brew recipe that he has been making for about 10 years and is now sharing with those that think and drink local. TROEGS CRAFT BREWERY

Troegs Brewing 1
Troegs has been on my radar for quite some time now and long overdue for a visit. Troegs is one of the first breweries that opened my mind to the world of craft beer, the result of which drives what I am doing today with this website. Last Wednesday, Steve and I headed westward towards Hershey PA to check out the new Troegs facility, sample some great beers, and nurture hopes of drinking Nugget Nectar from the fermenter. HIGH POINT BREWING COMPANY

Ramstein Brewing 1
We have had I Drink Good Beer up and running for about four years now, and despite that, there are still a lot of unturned stones in our own back yard. High Point Brewing Company is one such place and probably one of the best kept secrets in our craft brewing community.  After working as a brewer in southern Germany, founder Greg Ziccardi returned to the US to open High Point in 1994 with German purity laws in mind. Filling a neat little niche, all of Ramstein’s beers are made to reinheitsgebot with the same care and precision Greg learned in Germany with all his ingredients coming straight from Bavaria.

ANGRY ERIK BREWING COMPANY

Angry Erik 1

With the laws passing last year, it seems like there are a lot more breweries throwing their hats in the ring here in  New Jersey, which is very inviting seeing as the state used to be a brewing mecca. One of the newest breweries to get online here in NJ is Angry Erik Brewing, tucked away in Southern Sussex county offering small batch beers for the craft enthusiasts of the area. We took a trip up to Angry Eriks on their opening day to say hello and obviously try some of their beer.  Continue reading “ANGRY ERIK BREWING COMPANY”

RIVER HORSE BREWING COMPANY

River Horse SignWe recently spent some time at the new River Horse facility, working on a film showcasing their digs and talking about the transition from the old building in Lambertville, New Jersey. If you remember our last trip to River Horse, you would know that they had been brewing in their Lambertville location since they opened their doors in 1996.  Supplying the thirsty cities of New York and Philadelphia, and also satisfying the home market of NJ (and another in Connecticut), River Horse could only do so much at that facility. The decision was made to move on and get a bigger and more comfortable place that they can grow into over the next few years. Continue reading “RIVER HORSE BREWING COMPANY”
